You need a cheerleader on the day? Someone to pick you up a mcmuffin on the way? I'm your guy

Hey, I'm James. I'm located in a little town called Margate in Kent. Margates part of an area called Thanet, we're quite literally surrounded by the sea which is awesome, I had possibly the best childhood because of it.

Thanet used to be an Island, there was even a council candidate with questionable policies which involved digging up the marshland to make Thanet an island again but this was calculated to be in the region of £1bn

THE VIBE -

  • Caffeine makes me tired. Seriously - a coffee will let me have the BEST nights sleep.
  • When the wedding band opens with never too much for the 1000th time I am still in my element
  • My favourite movie is Lala Land (masterpiece)
  • I love instant photos
  • One morning I decided I wanted a pond and within 12 hours I had a ecosystem in my garden for my kids to enjoy
  • I currently have 38 tabs open in my browser

TO THE BEGINNING

That's me in my snoopy t shirt, wearing my grans glasses with my trademark lop-sided fringe. Copyright - My dad (maybe...no one remembers who actually took the photo).

You are keen to know what I was like as a kid, I'm sure. Well my old school reports go as far as -

  • James is a very sensitive and thoughtful boy.
  • If he is to achieve his potential, however, he needs to learn to focus his attention.
  • He is capable of good standard of work but often seems unsure of himself and is easily distracted.
  • James is a popular member of the class and I have enjoyed having him with me this year.

I think the last bit is a copy and paste job with everyone else in the class but everything else, nailed it!

NightSky

I started taking photos of the night sky, it was a type of therapy for me. This is how I learnt about the quite frankly....boring technical aspects of photography.

I tried landscapes like every other hobbyist photographer does, but I quickly found out I prefer taking photos of people.

From night sky into portraits...

My kids never stayed still or posed for photos....I'm sure other parents can relate to this. The very fact they used to run away from the camera, and refuse to pose, taught me a very important thing. Not many people enjoy their photo being taken.

So instead of "look at daddy and smile" it was "LET'S GO TO THE BEACH AND EXPLORE"

IT'S TIME FOR WEDDINGS!!

Why weddings?? Good question. I actually nearly ran a mile when I was first asked to photograph a wedding. Well, I actually enjoy running alot so maybe that's not the perfect example.

A family member asked if I'd like to photograph their wedding. I was confused at first why on earth they'd ask me due to me considering myself a night sky photographer, their answer? "We just love the natural photos of your kids, surely you can do the same with adults?"

After watching over 100 youtube videos in 24 hours about how to be a wedding photographer, I said yes, and absolutely nailed their wedding day in Margate.

Years of photographing weddings since, at Thanet weddings, kent and all over England, I've realised wedding photography brings out the best of me

Kid's are growing FAST.
